A common question I am asked, what is the difference between counselling and coaching?

How do I know if I need to book in for counselling or coaching?

I would love to take this opportunity to get clear and allow you to gain a deeper understanding of exactly what counselling and coaching is and what you can gain from each modality.

What is Counselling?

Counselling provides you a space where you can discuss any personal issues in a confidential, non-judgemental and safe environment. A counsellor will support you in a positive manner by helping you explore different options, develop strategies and increase your self-awareness around these issues.

You may seek counselling for reasons such as, but not limited to,

  • Feelings that something in life isn’t quite right
  • Support in coping with depression and anxiety
  • Sudden or unexpected changes
  • Distressing or stressful event
  • Past experiences
  • Grief and Loss
  • Personal Development
  • Low Self-Esteem/Awareness/Confidence

As a qualified and Australian Counselling Association registered counsellor, I work with clients though a Person-Centred Approach.

What exactly does person-centred approach mean?

I whole-heartedly believe that you have the magic within you. I work with you on a conscious level, allowing you to explore and discover the areas that are of the utmost importance to you, meeting you exactly where you are at and supporting you to get to where you desire to be.

What is Coaching?

Coaching focuses on the ‘here and now’, the present moment, exactly where you are at right now and where you would love to be in the future. We won’t dive into any past experiences. As a Beautiful You Certified Coach, my focus is on the client’s self and self-actualisation. I whole-heartedly believe that when you are provided with a supportive, inspiring and accountable space you can achieve all that is required for you to reach your desired outcome.

Working alongside you, as the client, the principles of your coaching series are as follows:

Why Coaching?
